Many animals ignore anything that does not move or makes at least some sort of weird noise. As if we are all wired to give more attention to dynamic elements in our environment. I know that for me to sit and stare at a book and remain focused and actually try to remember what I read is not always easy. The external world many times manage to distract me.

What if we created a learning environment where facts would automatically get accompanied by a shape and a color and would zoom in-front of us from side to side. Would we manage to take note of them and remember them better than static book bullets?

How many of you can recall tiny objects from games you played years ago but cannot recall something you read yesterday?

I hope it is interesting enough for someone to further explore and I hope they update me or at-least send me a download link to a multimedia application that generates these kind of dynamic presentations from written texts.

I think that the usage and memory retention data can be very interesting.

Putting pressure pads on the bottom of the ocean. People always talk about the high pressure there so why no one uses it to create electricity. It can be a long carpet like strip and at the end will have a way to collect the electric current generated.

Studying electric fish populations and growing them as an industry. Then all we need to do is create special feeding stations for them that will collect their charge like snakes are milked for venom or cows for milk.

Creating a floating platform that has two layers connected by heavy springs. The movement of one plate towards the other and away can be used to create electricity.

Can Parallel Universe Theory Help Predict the Future?

Some theories talk about the universe as in a constant state of quantum flux (Heraclitus and Parmenides jump to mind so this idea is being recycled for a long time…). Parallel universe theories further suggest that with every decision point a new parallel universe is created for every path not taken.

For example if you grab a cookie and eat it, immediately there is a parallel universe created where you did not eat that cookie and remained thin and beautiful. Or if you save someone from drowning you created an alternative parallel universe where you let him die.

This is cool to think about but apart from messing up with our mind has no real perceived impact on our life experience and does not further our understanding of the universe around us. It’s just another crazy idea that cannot be proven nor can it be refuted.

What if we can find a way for this to become relevant to our own lives?

Let’s add another assumption. As this is already just a crazy idea, making it just a little more crazy cannot harm.

I have a theory that almost all these spontaneously created parallel universes collapse to cancel each other as they are created. All but the one that we experience currently which may also help predicting the future if we understand what prevents a collapse at a decision point. Much like light is reflected from a mirror to all angles but we only see it at 90 degrees because the other reflections cancel each other out.

If we believe the parallel universe theory it means we should eliminate our legal system as our actions have no meaning. Whatever we choose there are infinite number of alternative versions of us on other parallel universes going through all the other possible options and facing every possible consequence.

Doing something good means you force an alternative you that was about to do that good thing to take an evil alternative because you eliminated that option for him. If you do something evil, you are causing an alternative you to do something good by eliminating that option from his alternatives.

If we look into my addition that all these universes collapse and disappear but a chosen one we are both allowing parallel universes as well as maintaining a single timeline that is edited from shots chosen from un-collapsed parallel universe for each decision point.

The question that becomes interesting for our real existence is what can make one parallel universe to collapse and another to survive and continue our experience of life as we know it.

It is not a question of good or bad or morality as becomes painfully obvious from our existence…
What can it be?

Can we predict what will happen in the future by understanding which quantum parallel alternative will survive? Can we map
the future according to the magnetic signature of our decisions or some other freaky criteria?

Think about it…

We all learned to experience the world in 3D and adding time in 4D. Some physics theories are relating to 11 Dimensions as a good number and some go even further than that.
When you mention higher dimensions people often ask how they can be understood or visualized when all we can relate to is X Y and Z over time.

I saw some explanation attempts such as that they are not experienced because they are really really small or that every dimension is a way to manipulate in a non-linear way a lower dimension (for example the 5th dimension lets us jump around on the 4th dimension in the same way that a folded 3D paper can allow us to connect 2 2D points that are not next to each other).

I would like to try and suggest some additional dimensions that would make sense as properties of a logical point in an n’ dimension universe.

As we give a location of a point in X Y and Z what other possible parameters I could think about that might constitute additional dimensions?

Here is my brain dump list:

Its actual existence

Its spin

Its symmetric position (what if a point is flipped or mirrored or both)

Its likelihood to be there at any given time

The number of other physical points in the same exact position

The order in stack of all points in the same exact position

Its velocity

Its direction

Its temperature

Its magnetic property

Its mass

Its color

Its opacity

Its clustering with other points (an individual point is different than a line or a circle point)

Its consistency (how predictive is it as it changes location in the n dimension space)

Its density

Its contrast from surrounding points in each one of the n dimensions (how odd is it?)

Mastering a new language takes years. I wanted to find a way to rapidly learn the relevant parts of the language that will allow me to express myself and exchange views on topics I care about. I looked for a shortcut as I thought that I could get away with only learning the most common phrases and words and be able to express myself in months and not years. Finding the lists of most common phrases or words is not very difficult today with all the available online texts that can be statistically analyzed. There are also many pre-existing frequency lists. The problem with these frequency lists is that they cover the most common texts for the people that wrote the underlying texts, not mine.

The advantage of such a list is that it gives a scope that one can master in a few months. The disadvantage is that even if you know the most used words you can’t build a proper sentence or express yourself in what is relevant to your own thoughts.

I thought about why I want to learn a new language. The answer for me was to learn to express my thoughts and discuss things that interest me.

So, for me the most obvious first step is to create in a language I know a summary of what I want to discuss in a new language. Then I will get it translated and spend a month or two learning it in each new language.

I thought about the outline and topics that I should prepare and came up with this list of topics. I hope it can be a useful starting point for anyone that wants to take a similar route.

1) An elevator pitch about myself. A short (half a page?) bio about who I am, what I do, Where I am from, where and when I was born and where I grew up. A short description of my main hobbies and traits.

2) Things that I like.

3) Things I don’t like

4) My detailed CV (2-3 pages)

5) Topics I like to talk about:
5.1) Topic 1 - Topic overview (one page)
5.1.1.1-5.1.1.n ) Statements I want to make about the topic, quotes etc.
5.1.2.1-5.1.2.n ) Questions I want to ask about a topic with some possible answers

6) People
6.1.1) Person name and relation to me
6.1,2) His or her short bio
6.1.3.1 - 6.1.3.n) Shared experiences or anecdotes
6.1.4.1 - 6.1.4.n) Short simulated dialogs with this person (to help create example for wide variety of dialogs with different types of people such as business partners, friends and family)

7) My plans for the future

 Trips
8.1 - 8.n) Simulated Trip Place (for example coffee shop or convention center)
8.1.1.1 - 8.1.1.n) Statements about each location and sentences unique to that type of location.
8.1.2.1 - 8.1.2.n) Simulated dialogs in each location for most common things I would need to talk about there.

9) General
9.1) Numbers
9.2) Dates
9.3) Relativity statements (left, right, up, down, big, small, good, bad…)
9.4) Units (weight, height, currency, etc.)
9.5) Places (both type of places such as restaurant or hotel as well as specific places)

This is just an initial brain dump… I would love to get responses before I sit and actually build my personal vocabulary trainer and translate it.

I am aiming for about 30 pages of text that will give me a good foundation to express myself in other languages and that I should be able to master in a couple of months per language.

These toys can interact with the movie running in the background by whispering additional texts, adding sound effects such as laughter or screaming, moving in synch with the movie or interacting with other toys in a special Karaoke like DVD mode that has the movie without the voices and it is generated by the available toys

This idea was shelved because I found a few related patents that made me realize that although creative it is not original…

Imagine humming the notes of a song. What if a small app could recognize the notes and play them back in real time using a sound recorded from a musical instrument.

You could play the piano or saxophone by humming softly into your iPhone and letting the app do the conversion work for you.

This will bring the playing ability to people that did not spend years practicing a specific instrument but have the capacity to sing or hum the right notes.

This is a creative idea but I found out that there are several patents that are very close to it so it is off the implementation list..

Imagine if we can convince athletes and sport players to wear a head band with two small cameras that records their moves and what they see in 3D and HD.

We could then watch a basketball game for example and choose a player angle for a replay and see the move as seen from the eyes of that basketball player. We could also choose to see the whole game from the point of view of a specific player, a referee, a coach or a guy sitting on the bench hearing the inside comments by the team mates waiting for their turn to play.

I think it would be amazing and I can’t wait until it is available. I think that people would pay a premium to have this available to them so there is no reason it will not be available.

I can see this as being great also for the Olympic games as well as other high profile championships.
Imagine a tennis game where you see the player POV in real-time.

Now let’s take it to the next step…

If you can see a player as he or she moves in real time and you get the images and sounds that he or she gets, you can use tiny electrodes or microphone to influence their choices.

A coach can indicate if to take the shot or not…

An experienced player can give feedback to a newbie…

Viewers can SMS and most votes can request the player to take their wants into account…

This can allow a level of interaction and intimacy not available currently.
