Many think that robotic humanoid helpers are a dream for the faraway future. Actually I am pretty sure that one can be produced with current technologies.
This robotic human looking helper can serve as a live-in assistant for people with disabilities or for the elderly population and help them with daily tasks from tiding up their house to helping them to wash.
I am aware of many developments in this field and I think that some of the limitations are because researchers are trying to create a robot that thinks like a human would in order to operate and produce the needed activities and environment interactions. I admire their progress but I think that the road to a domestic robotic helper can be done in a much painless way and produce much of the results we want with technologies that exist in the market today.
I assume a 6 month project will be needed to build a complete and working prototype that can be presented moving around a house and taking care of tens of different household chores.
